Review: Pizza Service, Århus, Denmark

Here is my review of the fastfood resturant “Pizza Service”.

Pizza Service
Vesterbrogade 9
8000 Århus C, Denmark
+45 8620 2966

I found the place at JustEat.dk because I had to find a place which was open after 23.00. So I checked the menu at JustEat.dk to figur out what I wanted before calling them.

There was a lot of noise in the background and the guy told me to hang on for 2 seconds. I could hear that he was doing some other business in the background and I had to wait for quite a while. Further more the reception was very bad. I was a little annoyed by that. If you pick up the phone you either devote your attention to the to the caller, or you put the phone on hold, so that the caller can’t hear what is going on. Personally I don’t think you should pick up the phone if you cannot devote your attention to the caller.

Anyway, I ordered a mexican pizza for 2 persons with mince, kidney beans, onions and some other vegetables. I asked for an extra hot pizza without cheese. So he asked me if I wanted with extra chili, which was the best he could do. He didn’t think of adding other ingredients to make it more spicy. The pizza would be delivered in about an hour and would cost 120,- danish kroner.

About three-quarters of an hour later the pizza arrived. I was very disappointed with the size of the pizza. It was not even close to being 30 cm in diameters. It was only about 2-3 centimeters longer than the length from the tip of my thumb till the tip of my little finger. And this was a pizza for two persons to the price of 120,- ddk!

When I opened the the package including the pizza I found that there was meatballs on the pizza and not minces as I ordered it. Furthermore they forgot to give me chili on top of the pizza. Last but not least the pizza wasn’t sliced. The pizza had no taste whatsoever, the only thing I tasted was half-done bread, overdone vegetables and rubber-meatballs.

Conclusion

I won’t be eating or ordering from the Pizza Service in Århus at Vesterbrogade ever again. Overall the pizza was crap. For the same price I could have have had so much better food else where or I would not have had any at all! The phone service was miserable and when I called them up to tell them about their errors they did not offer to compensate in anyway. I certainly hope that this post will help others avoiding the miserable experience that I had to endure.

HowTo: Get a blank title in kubrick default theme

by Philip Hoyos

I have been asked if I knew how to stop the title showing up on top of the kubrick header, while it still maintains the title and description of the site. So here goes I hope it will help you.

First, get this plugin All-in-one-SEO
Configuring this plugin should allow you the option of having a site title name, but without it showing up on top of the kubrick image header.

Secondly, remove the title from the kubrick image header.
In the WordPress admin site, you need to go to Design>Theme Editor>header.php
Here you will need to remove or comment out the code that looks like this:

<div id=”header”>
<div id=”headerimg”>
<h1><a href=”<?php echo get_option(‘home’); ?>/”>
<?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?></a></h1>
<div class=”description”><?php bloginfo(‘description’); ?></div>
</div>
</div>

This is the code that generates the Title and blog description of your WordPress site.

Dear Steve Jobs

In September 2006 I chose to switch from windows pc and instead I bought a brand new MacBook Pro (MBP) 17″. It was very nice and all what I wanted. Though had I waited just one month my mac would not have been reduced to half the price. Just one month after I bought my mac Apple released the new MBP with n-protocol wireless and some other updates. I though that was a shame, however, I was very happy with my mac.

Then in June 2007 just before my exams, my monitor broke down. It had horizontal and vertical lines across the screen, so I couldn’t see the desktop or what I were working on. This time it was crucial that I could use my mac, as I had made my exam presentation on my mac. Luckily a friend of mine had just bought a MacBook (MB). I placed my MBP at the local Humac and they repaired it free of charge as It was covered by the 1st year warranty.

In the beginning of December 2007 I purchased a AirPort Extreme Base station. Because I had been given a n-protocol wireless card for my MBP for my birthday in november. Afterwards I found out that my MBP is unable to be updated to the new wireless format. In January 2008 the new Time Capsule was released leaving me feeling yet again very unlucky that I have just purchased a device that feel by half the price.

Around the beginning of May 2008 my Battery suddenly started to swell up opening up almost 45 degrees. I called Apple would said that they would replace my Battery because of the circumstances regardless of my warranty.

Now one year later May 2008, just 2 weeks before the start of my exams my MBP came up with the exact same problem as previous. I thought Apple would cover it because I purchased it in Denmark, where we have a 2-year warranty on manufacturing errors. Since the monitor had already had been replaced once and I am within the 2-year warranty  I thought there would be no problem having my monitor repaired again.

However, I called the Apple Hotline and they gave me a reference number to give at my local Humac. They were very nice and explained to me what had to happen. First they had to determine if it was a manufacturing error, secondly they had to pas the case on because I was out of Apples one-year-warranty.
So I went down to the Humac store, gave the man my reference number and had him send it in to their repair department. A few days later I received a letter from Humac containing a draft of what they had found out. What they basically told me was that the price of repairing my mac would be the cost of a new MB.
As couldn’t see any corespondency between Apple and Humac regarding what had been agreed. I asked, and I had to call back and forth a few times between Humac and Apple, before Humac finally told me that the reference number I had provided basically was useless to them as I had to have Apple contact Humac regarding my MBP. I convinced him to email Apple anyway to take care of the whole deal.

Now Im waiting to see what will happen. The reason why Im writing you is to tell you that regardless of what have happened with my MBP I really think Apple make the best products. Also I hope that you could help me out with my mac issues.

I have made it my own personal quest to have as many PC users as possible use Mac’s instead of PC’s. So far I know I have convinced more than 10 people to buy Macs because I have guided them in their needs. Currently Im involved in a project at my University that will connect our lecture schedule with all the macs and the upcoming iPhones. At our University we have not got any guides on how to connect the mac to the university wireless. Im in charge of making that guide as well as implementing it.

Every year for christmas I use all the pictures from the year to create a picture DVD and a calendar. I create one for each family member. They are all very fond of it and keep asking me how I have done it. This way I have had a lot of my family and friends buy Apple products.

I have also created a website, where Im posting tutorials on how to use macs and all the wonderful possibilities that comes with this fascinating machine.

Update…

After discussion back and forth between me, Humac and AppleCare. I found out that there had been a confusion  about what I wanted. Humac did not realize that I wanted Apple to pay for the whole deal. But at AppleCare, while talking to a supporter, we realized this. The apple supporter told me that Apple would take care of the whole deal and that I only had to pay for the diagnosis of my MacBook Pro.

Thumbs up for Apple =)

HowTo: Search with keywords and operators

Friday, June 13th, 2008
by Philip Hoyos

Last night I came to think about the way I preformed searches with the various search engines. So I thought I that might help others.

When you are for something on the internet, you are doing so with words. What most people does not realize is that there are a number of ways to preform a search.

Lets say that I wanted to figure out how to change the kubrick header in the WordPress default theme. In google I might write something like:

HowTo: Change +kubrick header in default +WordPress theme

As you can see above I have put a little plus sign(+), which is called an operator, in front of some of my words. The reason why I have done this is because the plus sign tells the search engine that the word that comes after(kubrick and wordpress) must be in the result. In my above search I chose kubrick and wordpress as my keywords. The reason for this is because theses words tells most about what Im looking for. I could refine my search by including quotation marks around part of the sentence or the whole thing. The search engine would then look that exact line, like this:

“HowTo: Change Kubrick header in default WordPress Theme”

Here is a link to an excellent site that can help you refine your search with google.

Mac OS X Hotkeys

Friday, June 6th, 2008
by Philip Hoyos

I have been using hotkeys for as long as I can remember because it is much faster than using the menus for the same action. Therefor I have assembled a list of hotkeys that I use, and I find very useful. I think it is a very good idea to get accustomed with these hotkeys, as they will help speed up your workflow, and minimize the risk of getting damages caused by the use of mouse. If you have been using hotkeys at a PC, then a lot of these will look similar, only by mac you use cmd instead of ctrl.

While booting your Mac:

  • Hold C key to startup from CD-ROM (change password)
  • Hold T key to startup in Target Disk Mode
  • Hold N key to startup in Net
  • Hold cmd + shift + R + P to reset video settings (the startup sound will sound twice)

While using OS X / Finder:

  • cmd + TAB = cycle through apps
  • cmd + M or double-click Title Bar = minimize
  • cmd + H = hide window
  • cmd + delete = move to trash
  • cmd + I = get info
  • cmd + alt + ESC = force quit apps
  • cmd + alt = launch build-in media browser -> Frontrow
  • cmd + C = copy
  • cmd + V = paste
  • cmd + X = cut
  • cmd + A = select all
  • cmd + Z = undo
  • cmd + Z + shift = redo
  • cmd + Q = close app
  • cmd + W = close window
  • cmd + N = new Finder window
  • cmd + E = ejects the mounted device or application
  • cmd + up arrow = go to the folder that contains the current folder
  • cmd + down arrow = launches highlighted app
  • cmd + shift + A = apps
  • cmd + shift + U = utilities

Arrow Keys:

  • cmd + left = beginning of line
  • cmd + right = end of line

Screen Capturing:

  • cmd + shift + 3 = captures whole screen
  • cmd + shift + 4 = captures selected region
  • cmd + shift + 4, spacebar = captures window with camera icon
